Team Leader Non-Production
Location: City of Joburg region C and D, Gauteng, South Africa

About the role
Oversee non-production operations, such as maintenance, logistics, stores, and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate support teams to ensure the smooth functioning of mining infrastructure and auxiliary systems
- Manage compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Monitor equipment availability, readiness, and service schedules
- Facilitate communication between production and non-production departments
- Lead incident response and troubleshooting for non-production-related issues
- Maintain documentation and ensure accurate reporting of non-production activities.

- Ability to interpret technical documentation
- High attention to detail and safety awareness
- Proficiency in reporting and documentation systems
Area of Responsibility
- Develop a strategy that enables team members to achieve a project’s goal better.
- Assign tasks to team members.
- Determine the completion timeline and monitor progress to keep the project on track and schedule.
- Communicate clear instructions to team members.
- Manage the flow of day-to-day operations.
- Create and distribute reports to update the company on the team’s progress.
Education/Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant team leader certificate (e.g., mechanical, electrical, logistics)
- Competent A & B certification
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in mining support functions
- Prior leadership experience in a mining setting
- Medically fit and a clear criminal record
Work Environment
- Underground or surface mining environment
- Exposure to heavy machinery, dust, and noise
- Requires quick response to breakdowns and logistical challenges

Reports directly to the Miner.

About the role
To lead and supervise a mining production team in achieving daily operational targets safely, efficiently, and within budget. The role ensures that production processes comply with statutory, regulatory, and organisational standards while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and control mining operations to meet production goals
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Lead and motivate team members to maintain high performance and morale
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimise downtime
- Monitor quality standards and ensure adherence to best practices
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and team coordination
- Knowledge of mining equipment, production planning, and safety systems
- High attention to safety, quality, and detail
- Effective communication and conflict resolution
Area of Responsibility
- Ensure availability of the right tools for the task at hand
- Conduct day to day on the job risk assessments;
- Assisting in the construction of ventilation controls;
- Assist with conducting ventilation / occupational hygiene measurements underground;
- Ensure safety underground and that the team is equipped with the correct PPE.
- Training of recruits in the section.
- Ad Hoc operation of TMMs when required
Education/Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Competent A & B certification
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in mining, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
- Medically fit and a clear criminal record
Work Environment
- Underground steep mining
