Load Haul Dump (LHD) Operator

Rigger

Riggers in underground mining are responsible for lifting, moving, transporting, positioning, pulling, and securing heavy equipment, machines, and oversized loads. Their duties include aligning, levelling, and anchoring machinery, attaching loads to rigging for support, and controlling the movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces. They also dismantle and store rigging equipment after use, fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, and manipulate rigging lines and hoists to move or support materials. Riggers must select appropriate gear for lifting and moving heavy objects, set up equipment, and ensure safety regulations are followed at all times. They coordinate with team members to lift, move, or position large parts or structures, and ensure machinery is aligned, levelled, and anchored properly.

  • Aligning, levelling, and anchoring machinery
